Global 5000 Sales Launch Bombardier Into Latin America Super-Large Business Jet Market
São Paulo, Brazil, March 31, 2005
Bombardier Aerospace reaffirmed the strong market demand for its high-speed intercontinental Global 5000 aircraft with today's announcement of the sale of two Bombardier Global 5000 business jets to launch customers in Central and South America.
A multi-national corporation based in Honduras is the first business jet operator in Central America to purchase the innovative Global 5000 jet and plans to deploy the aircraft mostly on high-speed North-South missions. The South American launch customer will use the aircraft for intercontinental travel to destinations in North America and Europe. Both operators selected the Bombardier Global 5000 because of its winning combination of speed, range, and superior comfort.
The Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft offers superior speed as well as the most advanced cabin, featuring the first Ethernet-based Air Show 21 application in corporate aviation. U.S. Federal Aviation Administration type approval was awarded in October 2004, and the first Global 5000 business jet will enter corporate service shortly.
"The Bombardier Global 5000 will set the standard in the super-large jet category, building on the superior performance of the Global Express," stated Fabio Rebello, regional vice-president, sales, Latin America, Bombardier Business Aircraft. "Having a Global 5000 aircraft in both Honduras and Brazil will further highlight the advantages of our versatile product line for operators throughout Latin America."
The Bombardier Global 5000's category-leading speed is most evident
on intercontinental flights. Compared to other jets in its class, it
trims a full hour from long distance routes such as New York-São Paulo,
Tegucigalpa-Anchorage, São Paulo-Lisbon, and San Francisco-Lima. At
Mach 0.89, the aircraft is even faster on popular business routes such
as Washington, D.C.-London and New York-Paris.
