ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov.8, 2005)- Raytheon Aircraft Company announced today that it's supermidsize Horizon businessjet will transition to the Hawker family nomenclature as the Hawker 4000. Referred to as the Horizon throughout its development, the aircraft will now revert to the product model number, as had been planned for final certification, coinciding with the launch of the aircraft into the marketplace. This numerical approach is also consistent with the Hawker product line's naming process for upgrade and derivative announcements as the company continues to grow and improve its product line.
The new Hawker 4000 made its official debut at Orlando Executive Airport on Wednesday, November 9 th, 2005 with serial number 5 available for viewing at the Raytheon Aircraft Company static display all three days of the show.
Built in the Hawker tradition with a reputation for reliability, durability and proven performance, the response from customers has been overwhelming. "With its great ramp presence, eloquent custom built interiors and outstanding performance, the Hawker 4000 is going to carry on the Hawker heritage and take it to a whole new level," said Brad Hatt, president and general manager of Hawker business. The airplane went on tour this past summer. Starting at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE)in Geneva, Switzerland in May, customer interest began to increase in the international arena and the tour was extended into Africa and South America. It also toured the United States for thirty days.
"The Hawker 4000's overall performance tops the supermidsize class. It's a heavy iron designed airplane in a supermidsize body,"said Hatt. With respect to field performance, the 4,509 foot Takeoff Field Length(ISA, SL, MGTOW)for the Hawker 4000 is nearly 15 percent better than the original guarantee, and this impressive number is the best in the supermidsize class. Climb rate for the Hawker 4000 is exhilarating, going from sea level to 37,000 feet injust over 13 minutes. Once at altitude the Hawker accelerates very quickly to its maximum cruise speed of Mach.84.
As of the end of October, 2005, total fleet time for the Hawker 4000 has grown to 2,690 hours. The flight test program is nearing completion and the aircraft will move into the final test of function and reliability during November. Final Type Certification is expected by the end of 2005.
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308A engines deliver 6,900 lb of thrust each combined with the Hawker 4000's advanced wing design provide stunning hot/high and short field performance. For example, from Aspen, Co.(7,820 ft elevation, 7,000 ft runway)the Hawker 4000 can carry six passengers to New York, NY at Mach 0.82 at departure temperatures up to 34 degrees C./93 degrees F.in three hours and fifteen minutes.Or, from Hilton Head, SC (19 ft elevation, 4,300 ft runway), the Hawker 4000 can fly six passengers crosscountry to San Francisco, CA at Mach 0.82 injust over five hours at departure temperatures up to 30 degrees C./86 degrees F.
Designed to be the world leader in the supermidsize category, the Hawker 4000 offers an outstanding combination of range, speed and cabin size. The airplane has true coasttocoast nonstop range under nearly any expected wind situation. Six passengers can be carried over 3,000 nautical miles at a Mach 0.82 cruise speed and four passengers can be carried over 3,300 nautical miles at cruise speed of Mach 0.75.
Constructed of advanced composite material, the Hawker 4000 fuselage is built in three sections, and features a 72inch standup cabin and 77.5inch width.A flat floor runs the entire length of the aircraft, leading to a large baggage area. The baggage compartment is accessible on the ground through an exterior door or during flight through the cabin.
Current production models in the Hawker family include the Hawker 400XP light jet, the Hawker 850XP midsizejet with winglets, and the Hawker 4000 supermidsize jet.
The Hawker 4000 will be delivered with a comprehensive customer support package and will be supported by Raytheon Aircraft Company's global network of companyowned and independent service centers.
